In December 2004, Lian was elected by the General Assembly as Coordinator (Ministries & Missions) and serves the Lord faithfully by visiting churches, meeting and training pastors, elders, and deacons.

Lian and Clara are very committed to the care and education of the many orphans in their area. An orphanage called "Covenant Children's Home" was started in January 2002. Lian, Clara, their three daughters and 135 orphans are living in the Home at this time.

Latest Report: (updated 8/16/2010)

Dear friends and prayer partners,

We have just celebrated our country's 63rd Independence Day yesterday. We have a worship program at our church and I preached on Psalms 47: 1 -9: "God — The Lord of kings and nations". It was heart touching to reflect back on history and see the hands of our Almighty God as he works through the history of mankind to manifest His power and glory. We feel blessed indeed to be a citizen of a free and secular India, where the gospel could be proclaimed openly and freely.

Praises:

  1. Our family and the Orphanage continue to survive in the midst of the political turmoil in Manipur, and could go on serving the Lord through the ministry in which he has called us by His grace.
  2. Our Evangelistic Outreach program at C. Tuivelzang and Maukot village is greatly blessed by the Lord. Our preaching consisted of 4 sessions which was attended by about 300 people. The first preaching session started on the night of August 7, 2010 and over on the night of August 8, 2010.
  3. Covenant Children's Home and Covenant School are going well. We are renovating our buildings which have been kept unrepaired for the past 6-8 years since their construction. The children are enjoying good health and keep themselves busy with their studies.

Prayer concerns:

  1. Due to economic blockades, landslides, and general strikes along the Highways, Manipur has been literally cut-off from the outside world. Prices of daily essential commodities being comparatively high, and many of them are not available for purchase in the markets. Please pray for peace and tranquility in the region since it affected our ministry, and the poorer section of the society.
  2. Please pray for the staff members of Covenant Children's Home comprising of 20 men and women; and for the 20 staff members of Covenant School. Most of them are earning meager monthly salaries and hit hard by the ongoing situations in Manipur.
  3. Lian is travelling to Agartala, the capital of Tripura in the Northeast India to meet with Cartee Bales, MTW Director for Southeast Asia, and Jon Bonker, a MTW missionary in Bangladesh to discuss about the possibility of a joint partnership in missionary works in Sylhet, Bangladesh.
  4. Covenant School will have their First Examination for this Fall Semester from September 07 – 12, 2010. Please pray for the staff as well as the students as they prepare themselves for this upcoming examination.
  5. Please pray for the "Marriage Seminar" that Clara and I are going to teach at Maukot Presbyterian Church from September 25-26, 2010.

Thank you so much for your prayers and financial support to our ministry.

In His grace,

Lian & Clara
