Orange Farm Project

Orange Farm

As resolved by the Children's Home Managing Board, the land belonging to Tonglon village was bought in order to start income-generating projects for the ongoing support of the orphanage. Tonglon, a thriving village of 40 families, was burnt to ashes during the1997-98 civil war.

Tonglon is famous for its orange products, which are the best in all of Manipur. The market for oranges is strong here.

The process of orange farming begins with the clearing of forests and the planting of seeds. Orange trees take seven years to bear fruit, but each tree lives for over 100 years. Our prayer is that the Lord will bless this project and that it will meet a substantial part of the evergrowing support needs of the Covenant Children's Home.
