Latest Report: (updated 12/21/2009)

Dear Partners in the gospel,

In February 2002 when Rose and I landed at Cincinnati Airport coming from Togo, we had no idea of how things would go for us, or how we would survive in this foreign land of us. We knew nobody, had no friends, and no connections. We had nothing except two small suitcases full of clothes and official documents of our identities. Uncertainty and the unknown were the only words that can really describe our situation. Our only reference and comfort was God and God alone.

As we celebrate our 8th Christmas in this land, the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, we just want to tell to the whole world that God is good and good all the time. From a human perspective many things were impossible to even dream about and yet God led us, protected us, provided for us step by step and day by day because of his goodness and faithfulness alone toward us. The journey was not easy but God never left us alone. We had many challenges and obstacles, financially, emotionally and spiritually. I remember days where fears and anxieties consumed us as never before. We wept and we cried.

Our first Christmas was without a Christmas tree, no gift and no friends or family. But the beauty of God's creation, the white snow, and God's presence gave us peace and joy. This year we have a tree set up because of our two beautiful daughters the Lord blessed us with. They helped us put it up and decorate it. It was fun. From Lexington to St Louis and everywhere our feet stepped, God gave us family, the body of Christ, and faithful friends and colleagues with whom serving and ministering has been a privilege and a blessing.

Benitaah, our five years old daughter, is excited about going to Togo and has lot of questions. She amazes us with questions about God. She was asking why we need to die before going to heaven. How do you explain this to a 5 year old? We just told her "pray that Jesus will come back soon, but before that let's go and tell people that He loves them so that they can be saved." Those are the kind of questions we hear every day on top of what she has done in school with her friend Cloey. We wonder how her last day of school will be. Lord help us! Her love for school is encouraging to us.

Lilliann her little sister just turned two years old. She is such a delight. She counts to ten and loves singing. Her favorite song is "Mambo Sawa Sawa" She wants to do it all on her own. In the morning, she goes to the office to look for Papa. And she is happy. Then she is ready for her favorite show "Dora the Explorer."

Please pray that our girls will go through a sweet transition as they meet new people in Africa.

Rose has mixed feelings. She is so excited that she is going home and at the same time concern about how it will be after 8 years. She is also sad to leave the church family and friends that the Lord brought into her life. She couldn't make it without them around. But she believes God is good and will give another opportunity to meet again or serve together. She will love to hear from you and would appreciate your prayers. She wants to tell all the sisters that they will be welcome in Togo.

We thank God for all these years and we want to thank YOU for walking with us, praying with us and providing for us.

Now is the time we believe to go back home and pursue God's Kingdom and be part of God's movement in West Africa, by training indigenous missionaries, loving the orphans, the widow, the poor and the oppressed.

Lord willing, we will be Home in February-March 2010 for Church Planting Ministry. God has blessed us through each and every one of you, and we are asking God to use us and bless others in Africa.

Though we are still fundraising, we want to thank you for your support, donations and pledge for our monthly support.

Please pray:

  1. Our next 2 months period of travels in USA to say goodbye and share the vision of the ministry.
  2. Togo Presidential election in February 2010.
  3. For stability in the West African countries of Guinea and Ivory Coast.
  4. Our CFE (Christians Foundation for Education) kids number than 150 orphans in West Africa who are connected with us.
  5. For AMN (Africa Missions with Nations) missions conference in August 2011 in Lome, Togo.
  6. Financial support (45% still needed to reach our monthly support pledges and 15% behind for One Time expenses):
    • Our monthly support for three staff positions, Housing, Offices, and School is $3,000.
    • One time support needed at this time: $10,000

Above all, we wish You Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. If we do not meet again before we leave, remain in Him, the New Baby Christ King and be Blessed.
